Toby Roland-Jones finished a stunning personal performance with six wickets as a rampant Middlesex completed an innings and 84-run victory over Northamptonshire - reaching the summit of the LV= County Championship table in the process.
Roland-Jones collected four wickets on the final day and 6/50 in the second innings to finish with brilliant match figures of 12/105.
As if he was scared the man-of-the-match award might have gone to his teammate Neil Dexter, who hit 163 not out in Middlesex's innings, Roland-Jones smashed 60 from just 30 balls in to complete a remarkable four days for the England Lion.
Northants resumed the final morning on 88/4 and with a mountain to climb in order to earn a result against title chasing Middlesex.
And Tim Murtagh and Roland-Jones immediately put relegation favourites Northants on the back foot with three early wickets, including that of former South Africa all-rounder Andrew Hall.
There was some resistance from Ben Duckett, who made 56, to ensure the match extended beyond the lunch interval, but Roland-Jones took two more wickets after the break, and Dawid Malan ran out Azharullah to wrap up an emphatic win and send Middlesex to the summit.
