Angus Berry becomes new CEO of the MCC Foundation

Posted: 4 November 2025

The MCC Foundation is pleased to announce that Angus Berry has officially begun as the Foundation’s new Chief Executive Officer. Angus, who has worked as MCCF’s Operations Director since 2022, will oversee all executive matters for the Foundation. He succeeds Dr Sarah Fane, who will continue with MCCF as Executive Director.

Angus takes up his role ahead of an exciting year for the MCC Foundation, both at home and overseas. In the UK, the inaugural Barclays Knight-Stokes Cup will begin in April 2026. Applications closed recently, with 1,084 boys’ and girls’ teams from 750 secondary state schools entering from across the UK. This constitutes approximately one in five of all secondary state schools in the country.

As the Barclays Knight-Stokes Cup introduces more state-educated children to cricket, the most interested and talented youngsters can take advantage of MCCF Hubs, receiving free coaching and match play opportunities. The number of Hubs will reach approximately 220 for 2026 and the programme continues to go from strength to strength.

Quality coaching is essential for any aspiring young cricketer, and Angus and his team have recognised the need to cultivate an expanding pool of expert coaches. In particular, the number of female coaches does not yet meet the current huge demand from young female players. The MCCF Female Coaching Scholarship programme helps girls aged 16 to 18 to complete a two-year coaching programme which includes ECB coaching qualifications.

Angus recently returned from Kenya as he continues to work on a major expansion on Cricket Unites, a partnership between MCCF and Cricket Without Boundaries. The initiative brings together local delivery partners in seven countries across South America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Addittionaly, the Foundation is committed to continuing it’s support to refugees through cricket.

Angus said: “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Dr Sarah Fane and the MCCF Trustees for their immense support. The value of that support is immeasurably greater in the knowledge that Sarah will continue to play a major role, as Executive Director, in the work this charity does: the Foundation’s impact on the lives of thousands of children is not possible without her.

This is a hugely exciting opportunity. The impact the Foundation has, through the support it receives from its donors, ambassadors and partners such as MCC and ECB, is profound. I am really looking forward to leading these major projects forward.”

In December, the Foundation will be participating in the Big Give Christmas Challenge once again, where all donations to the MCC Foundation between Tuesday 2 and Tuesday 9 December will be doubled.
