While women’s cricket has experienced a huge soar in popularity in the past decade, MCC’s network of female Playing Members has seen similar growth and is now a large, welcoming community playing at Lord’s and other incredible venues across the country.
However, the Club is always looking to increase the number of female Playing Members and is currently searching for cricketers playing regular club cricket or higher to further grow our community.
MCC Women currently have over 70 fixtures a year, across all days of the week, playing competitive cricket against a variety of oppositions, from schools to county sides to the Armed Forces. Membership is a great way to play an active role in the future of the game for women and girls, make new connections and friends, as well as open future opportunities within the sport. Players can also experience annual overseas tours, and cricket can even be played alongside any other cricketing commitments.
Membership costs vary depending on your age and where you live, but if you’re looking to play, it can cost less than £90 a year. Playing for MCC is also the quickest route to Full membership; Playing Members can have access to Lord’s Pavilion on matchdays in as little as three years.

25-year-old Alice plays for MCC and first heard about the opportunities when she was playing County age-group cricket at the age of 15.
Her employer is very supportive of her passion for playing cricket with MCC and allows her time off to train after work. Alice is particularly grateful for the number of fixtures MCC provides – both at the weekend and midweek.
She said joining MCC was one of the best decisions she has ever made. Opportunities such as playing at Lord’s with fantastic people have made it a satisfying experience so far.
Clare is a mother of two in her 50s who only got into cricket two seasons ago. She played softball when she was younger but wanted to get involved with cricket to reconnect with a passionate and vibrant community. She has since fallen in love with the sport.
Clare has found MCC’s Female Playing community to be incredibly inclusive and describes it as a family. She actively encourages more women to join.
Holly is a 28-year-old doctor who plays for MCC. She first heard about the club’s Female Playing Membership when playing against the Club while at university.
She was inspired to join after finishing her studies, as she wanted to continue playing at a high level.
Despite her busy schedule as a doctor, MCC has been incredibly supportive of Holly, and the high number of fixtures, combined with the flexibility to play, allows her to stay actively involved.
Female cricketers from all backgrounds are encouraged to join as Female Playing Members, with MCC fully committed to ensuring a welcoming, fair and equitable game through its Playing Membership – offering players an affordable, accessible and exciting way to be part of a passionate cricketing community.
