The countdown is almost over! We’re less than 24 hours away from the return of the Vitality Blast at the Home of Cricket as Middlesex takes on Sussex Sharks in a high-octane season opener at Lord’s. 

This Thursday promises twice the action and double the drama, with an exciting women’s clash kicking things off, followed by the men’s showdown under the lights — and it’s all included in a single matchday ticket. 

Middlesex’s men will be aiming to hit the ground running after Tymal Mills’ Sussex claimed victory when the sides met at Hove last year. With the home crowd behind them and fresh faces in the lineup, there’s optimism that 2025 could mark a turning point in Middlesex’s T20 fortunes. 

Middlesex 

Kane Williamson 

The New Zealander great brings experience, is calm under pressure, and has a proven T20 pedigree. With a T20 career average of 33.44 and a strike rate of 123, he’ll look to anchor Middlesex’s innings. It wouldn't shock to see WIllimason open the batting on Thursday night.
 

Stephen Eskinazi 

Middlesex’s white-ball captain is a proven T20 performer. A calm presence at the crease, Eskinazi will be a key figure this Vitality Blast season. 
 

Tom Helm 

Having a genuine quick bowler who is proven at the back end of an innings is crucial in T20 cricket and Helm provides just that. Expect another big season from the Middlesex quick. 

Sussex Sharks 
 

Tymal Mills 

A proven T20 weapon, Mills’ left-arm pace and pinpoint death bowling makes him a huge threat. He will be looking to replicate last season’s performance that helped Sussex beat Middlesex at Hove. 

John Simpson 

Returning to Lord’s in opposition colours, the former Middlesex stalwart will be keen to impress on his return. His leadership and finishing ability with the bat add depth to the Sharks’ lineup. 
 

Ollie Robinson 

Better known for his red-ball prowess, Robinson has quietly developed into a reliable T20 option. His control and ability to strike early could prove crucial against Middlesex’s top order.
