The Mound Stand is one of the main spectator stands at Lord’s, located along St John’s Wood Road on the west side of the Ground. It was one of the first major modern developments at the Home of Cricket in 1987. The MCC owes a debt to Mick Jagger, whose friend John Paul Getty helped cover the cost of the stand. Back in the 19th century, the Club's Real Tennis Courts stood on this site. The original Mound Stand was built in 1899 and took its name from a slight rise in the Ground, which made the pitch in front of it prone to flooding.
