The MCC Foundation was founded in 1993 as the charitable arm of MCC.
Since 2011 its flagship project has been the creation of Cricket Hubs across the UK, which provide free high-quality cricket coaching to children at state schools.
The Hubs were developed to address the declining number of state school children progressing into representative cricket, or even playing for local clubs. There are currently fifty-four Hubs across England, Scotland, and Wales, providing coaching to almost 2,000 young children from the state school sector.
In recent years, the MCC Foundation has also made significant contributions to several overseas cricket initiatives including the Rwanda Cricket Stadium Foundation, Afghan Connection, and the Foundation of Goodness in Sri Lanka.
Going forwards, the Foundation will continue to support meaningful projects overseas and the nationwide Cricket Hubs initiative, but will also work more closely with MCC’s Community Development team to support the excellent programmes they run to support the communities local to Lord’s. These projects include hosting activities for elderly people struggling with loneliness and dementia, and providing skills-training for ex-offenders.
