MCC announces collaboration with ExpectAI to accelerate sustainability action at Lord’s

Posted: 16 September 2026

MCC has announced a new collaboration with ExpectAI to strengthen sustainability action across its wider supplier ecosystem and support its long-term net zero ambitions, creating value for both the Club and its suppliers.

The collaboration will see MCC deploy ExpectAI’s artificial intelligence platform, Una, to enhance supplier intelligence, improve visibility across its value chain and identify opportunities to reduce Scope 3 emissions throughout its operations.

As one of the world's most iconic sporting venues, Lord’s welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors every year and works with an extensive network of suppliers and partners.

The initiative forms part of MCC’s broader sustainability strategy, which includes ambitions to achieve net zero emissions across Scopes 1 and 2 by 2030 and net zero across all scopes by 2040.

For major sporting venues, Scope 3 emissions often represent the largest and most complex area of environmental impact. These emissions sit beyond direct operations and are influenced by supplier networks, procurement decisions, logistics, food and beverage services, waste management, materials and a range of other activities.

Through Una, MCC will be able to bring supplier intelligence into a single platform, strengthen supplier engagement and move, where feasible, from estimated emissions data towards more robust supplier-level insights. The platform will also help identify practical opportunities for improvement and provide greater visibility into progress over time.

Rob Lawson, Chief Executive & Secretary of MCC, said: “Lord’s has always sought to lead both on and off the field. Sustainability is a key part of our long-term vision, and we recognise that meaningful progress requires collaboration across our entire supplier network.

“This collaboration with ExpectAI will help us better understand our value chain, improve engagement with suppliers and identify practical opportunities to reduce emissions. It is an important step in supporting our ambition to make Lord’s one of the world’s most sustainable sporting venues.”

Anand Verma, Founder and CEO of ExpectAI, said: “As a lifelong cricket fan,  I have admired MCC for as long as I can remember, and Lord’s has held a special place for me since I was a child. To now have ExpectAI supporting MCC’s sustainability ambitions is something I am incredibly proud of.

The next phase of sustainability will be driven by collaboration. No organisation operates in isolation, and Lord’s sits at the centre of a complex ecosystem of suppliers, partners and stakeholders. Connecting that ecosystem through better data and shared intelligence creates a significant opportunity to accelerate measurable change.

Una transforms fragmented data into actionable intelligence, helping organisations make better decisions, collaborate more effectively with their suppliers and move faster towards their sustainability goals. Together with MCC, we have an opportunity to demonstrate how artificial intelligence can turn sustainability ambition into measurable action - and help establish Lord’s as one of the world’s most sustainable sporting venues.”

Both MCC and ExpectAI are members of the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI), which brings together private-sector leaders to turn sustainability ambition into practical, scalable action. The collaboration at Lord’s reflects that shared commitment, combining MCC’s extensive supplier network with ExpectAI’s AI capabilities to strengthen supplier-level intelligence and accelerate progress on Scope 3 emissions.

The initial phase of the collaboration will focus on supplier intelligence and Scope 3 emissions management, laying the foundations for broader sustainability initiatives, deeper supplier engagement and AI across Lord’s operations.
