MCC ANNOUNCES WOMEN’S TOUR OF CHINA FOR 2027

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has today announced that it will be sending a women’s team for an overseas tour of China in 2027.

The tour, which is due to take place in September and October next year, is currently in the planning phase and the Club sees this as a huge opportunity to be able to grow the game in China, with particular focus ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

MCC’s cricketing objectives of being the finest cricket club in the world, working for the good of the game, are outlined in the Club’s four-year Cricket Strategy for 2026-2029, which was released earlier this year.

The Club currently undertakes four men’s tours each year, and one women’s tour, with as many ICC regions as possible represented within the schedule. MCC works closely with the ICC in maximising the effectiveness of each tour, ensuring that the development of the game is at the forefront of the trip – particularly in countries where the game is played less, or where national teams are emerging through ICC pathways.

MCC first toured China in 2006 with a men’s team, before a women’s team played there in 2014. Part of the 2017 tour of Hong Kong also featured matches in China and this will be the first time the Club has returned there since then.

Rob Lynch, Director of Cricket and Operations at MCC, said: “MCC is very pleased to be sending a women’s team for an overseas tour of China in 2027. We are currently in the planning phase of the trip, and we are looking forward to being able to confirm more details of the tour in due course."

“In our conversations with Sanjog Gupta at ICC, who is very supportive of the tour and its aims, it became evident that a women's tour would be the priority for this trip to maximise the development potential in the country, as we work to ensure that we are always looking to grow the game in the countries we visit.”

MCC will announce the remainder of its overseas tours for 2027 in due course. In 2026, the Club has toured Denmark, Hong Kong and India and Luxembourg for its men’s tours, with a trip to Botswana still to come. A women’s tour of Hong Kong begins next week, with a full preview to be published on the website shortly.
