Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah completes a star-studded line-up when MCC welcome Afghanistan to Lord’s on Tuesday 11 July for a historic 50-over match that will be streamed live.
Shah, who has 149 Test match wickets to his name from 26 matches, has most recently been playing for Kent in the Specsavers County Championship and joins fellow Pakistan international Misbah-ul-Haq in facing Afghanistan at the Home of Cricket on July 11th.
The match that will feature former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara and West Indian legend Shivnarine Chanderpaul, will be streamed live on Lord's Facebook and YouTube digital channels.
MCC will be captained by former New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum, who is currently playing for Middlesex in the NatWest T20 Blast, with MCC’s side also containing England all-rounder Samit Patel and former England wicketkeeper Chris Read, both of whom recently tasted victory at Lord’s in winning the Royal London One-Day Cup.
Yasir joins the MCC team as the final piece in the jigsaw
Irish duo Tim Murtagh and George Dockrell are part of the bowling attack with Surrey paceman Stuart Meaker and Durham seamer Chris Rushworth completing the line-up.
Afghanistan, who will be playing at Lord’s for the first time in this historic clash, were recently awarded Test status. They can include spinner Rashid Khan and all-rounder Mohammad Nabi amongst their ranks, who both featured for Sunrisers Hyderabad in this year’s IPL campaign.
MCC Head of Cricket John Stephenson said: “Yasir joins the MCC team as the final piece in the jigsaw for this match and we are delighted he is able to play in this historic fixture.
“With Afghanistan having recently been awarded Test match status, it is fitting that they will make their Lord’s debut in this match and we hope that many of their UK-based supporters are able to see them in action.”
A similar fixture last year saw MCC beaten by Nepal in front of a crowd of nearly 6,000 at Lord's.
Tickets are now on sale for the match with prices set at £20 for Adults, £10 for Over-65s and £5 for Under 16s.
