2020 England Fixtures at Lord's Confirmed

Posted: 21 August 2019

Next summer’s international fixtures at Lord’s have been announced this morning, with two Test Matches and a One-Day International taking place in 2020.

England will welcome West Indies in late June to the Home of Cricket, and Australia are the visitors for a One-Day International in July, part of a three-match series against England. Pakistan will then be England’s opponents for a Test Match in late July, which as per the Windies match, will form part of the World Test Championship.

The Windies were defeated by nine wickets on their last visit to Lord’s for a Test Match in 2017, when James Anderson’s career-best 7 for 42 accelerated England to a series win. Jason Holder’s men will be buoyed though by their home series victory earlier this year when they beat England 2-1. Next summer’s encounter will open the summer of international cricket at Lord’s on Thursday 25th June.Australia are the visitors on Saturday 11th July to take on England in a bilateral ODI at the Home of Cricket for the first time since 2015, when four wickets from Pat Cummins helped the tourists to victory. They played two fixtures at Lord’s in this summer’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, beating both finalists in England and New Zealand.

Pakistan will face England on Thursday 30th July and will be hoping to make it three Test victories in the space of five years at Lord’s. In 2016, Misbah-ul-Haq’s famous push-up celebration followed his excellent century as ten wickets in the match from Yasir Shah inspired them to victory, and in 2018 eight wickets from Mohammad Abbas helped Pakistan complete a nine-wicket win.

Supporters interested in attending any of the three international matches at Lord’s in 2020 are asked to register their interest in the public ballot.

Guy Lavender, Chief Executive & Secretary of Marylebone Cricket Club, said: “After an unforgettable summer of international cricket at Lord's this year, we are thrilled to be looking forward to our major matches in 2020.

West Indies and Pakistan are both great cricketing nations and will provide strong opposition for England in these important World Test Championship fixtures.

“It is always a fantastic occasion to welcome Australia and to have them returning for a One-Day International will be another landmark match at the Home of Cricket."
