Our Aim

The Lord’s Youth Girls Programme is a progressive and inclusive initiative aimed at nurturing the next generation of female cricketers. Reflecting the rapid growth and increasing participation in the women’s game, we’re proud to offer a high-quality environment that supports players across all ability levels, from enthusiastic newcomers to established county players.

Girls aged 11–17 who believe they have the passion and potential are encouraged to apply. While not every player will progress to county level, our aim is to challenge, support, and develop each individual through a structured and inspiring programme. This includes players already involved in school or club cricket who are looking to improve at the local level. With the support of Lord's extensive network, we can also help identify the most suitable development pathways for each individual.

Programme Overview

What’s New for 2025/26

In response to the evolving landscape of women’s and girls’ cricket, the 2025/26 Lord’s Youth Girls Programme has been redesigned to offer a clear and progressive development pathway. Beginning with open trials, selected players will be placed into targeted winter training groups aligned with their skillset, with some progressing to a competitive summer fixture schedule. With a strong emphasis on individual skill development and team culture, the programme provides a professional and supportive environment where every participant can grow and thrive.

We recognise that players will enter the programme with varying levels of experience. Our open trials are designed to assess each individual’s current stage and place them in a training group that offers the right level of challenge and development opportunity.

• Advanced players identified through the trials will train together with a shared focus on preparing for competitive summer fixtures.
• Emerging players, who already have experience with hard-ball cricket, will join focused groups aimed at strengthening their core skills. While they won’t initially take part in summer fixtures, they’ll receive close support with a view to progressing into future squads..
• Development players, who may require additional guidance in learning the fundamentals of the game, will join a supportive group environment focused on building confidence, understanding key concepts, and developing the skills needed to move to the next stage.

Trial Information

• All applicants will be invited to attend the initial trial phase in early September.
• Shortlisted players will be invited to further sessions in the second and third phases.
• Players from the 2024/25 Lord’s Youth squad do not need to attend the initial trial but must register interest to be considered for 2025/26.
