A Lovely Day for A Guinness at Lord’s

Posted: 2 June 2026

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has announced Diageo as an official partner of Lord’s in a deal which sees Guinness, Guinness 0.0 and Pimm’s supplied to visitors around the Ground, including Public Bars, Members’ areas and hospitality spaces.

As part of the announcement, MCC has produced a homage to iconic advertisements of Guinness' past, with a modern spin. The video ends memorably by stating that “Good things come to those who wait”, an apt declaration ahead of MCC’s celebrations for the 150th Test match at Lord’s – when England play New Zealand – later this week. Sir James Anderson, England’s greatest bowler and the leading wicket-taker at Lord’s, also features in the video and provides the voiceover.
Images of the Guinness ‘tilt test’ on the Lord’s slope, a 2.5m drop from one side of the Ground to the other, and of Anderson recreating his famous last Test match drink on the balcony, accompany the announcement.

The partnership also includes supply of Pimm’s No.1, a drink intrinsically linked to the English summer.

Diageo is a British multinational alcoholic beverage company, headquartered just two miles from Lord’s. As well as Guinness and Pimm’s, Diageo distributes some of the world’s most recognisable drinks brands including Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff and Captain Morgan’s.

Sir James Anderson said: “That pint of Guinness at Lord’s, as the crowd cheered me when I was on the balcony, was a drink I’ll never forget. A huge amount of attention to detail goes into a perfect pint of Guinness. It’s the same at Lord’s where everything is pristine and meticulous. For me and my friends, it’s always a lovely day for a Guinness, especially when watching the cricket at Lord’s.”

Andy Muggleton, Commercial Director of MCC, said: “It is fantastic to partner with Diageo, bringing Guinness and Pimm’s to the fore at Lord’s this summer. The presence of Guinness, Guinness 0.0 and Pimm’s across our Members’ and Public Bars further strengthens our drinks offering and ensures that there is a drink for all tastes at Lord’s. I am confident our Members and visitors will enjoy the wide range of high quality and recognisable brands available to them this summer.”

Jamie Brooks, Sports Partnership Lead at Diageo, said: ‘We are thrilled to be partnering with Lord’s Cricket Ground, an iconic stadium and the Home of Cricket. We look forward to bringing beautiful pints of Guinness to the stadium, and many lovely days over the summer.

Enjoy Guinness Sensibly.
