All eight lanes in the indoor facility are now covered by sensors which enables coaches to analyse numerous data points from every delivery. The new technology is available for all coaching sessions and comes at no extra cost to the customer.
Arc has inserted microchips into cricket balls which communicate with 20 sensors around the facility 200 times a second. These chips deliver pinpoint accuracy, delivering raw data that is refined to provide applicable statistics for bowlers such as ball speed, release point and number of revolutions, and for batters like contact points, launch angles and shot speed. This is all paired with sychronised video so each delivery can be watched and analysed accordingly.
Founded in 2022, Arc has installations in training facilities used by Kent CCC, Glamorgan CCC and Lancashire CCC as well as the Adil Rashid Cricket Centre in Bradford.
The installation of cutting-edge technology from Arc is the latest upgrade to the Vitality Performance Centre over the past two years. A café and wellness centre was introduced at Lord’s in early 2025 before the facility was extended last winter to accommodate a new retail outlet. In the summer of 2026, the facility was renamed Vitality Performance Centre after Vitality were provided with naming rights as part of its new partnership with Marylebone Cricket Club.
There are several cricket coaching programmes available in the Vitality Performance Centre, from one-on-one sessions to holiday courses and indoor match play. Coaching sessions are provided for aspiring cricketers aged under-5s through to adults. The new Arc technology will be used where relevant throughout these sessions.
Coaching programmes have been available at Lord’s since the first Easter Coaching Classes in 1902, when members of the professional ground staff provided sessions for the children of MCC Members. An indoor facility was opened at Lord’s in November 1977 and the current structure that constitutes the Vitality Performance Centre was opened in 1995.
Rob Lynch, Director of Cricket at MCC, said: “The introduction of Arc’s new technology elevates our coaching offering in the Vitality Performance Centre. Lord’s has a rich history when it comes to coaching the next generation of talent and we want to continue promoting the latest innovations in cricket technology. I hope many more thousands of aspiring cricketers come down to the nets at Lord’s to try this awesome new coaching experience.”
Michael Armenakis, Co-Founder and CEO of Arc, said: “It feels surreal to have gone from developing this technology five years ago and now here it is at Lord’s, the Home of Cricket. We’ve been making huge progress with Arc and there are so many more possibilities open to us. We are continuing to research and develop the technology, broadening the boundaries of what is possible in ball technology, and we are delighted to be working with MCC at Lord’s to make this happen.”
