She was presented with the honour during the first ever women’s Test match at Lord’s, which she was attending as one of a number of female cricketers invited to the occasion as guests of the Club.
Healy established herself as one of the finest wicket-keeper/batters in the history of the women’s game, enjoying an outstanding international career since making her debut for Australia in 2010. With more than 7,000 international runs and 275 dismissals, she combined explosive batting with exceptional skills behind the stumps.
A dynamic opening batter, Healy played a pivotal role in an era of Australia’s dominance on the world stage, helping her country win multiple ICC World Cups – both 20-over and 50-over – and Commonwealth Games gold. Her innings of 170 against England in 2022 remains the highest individual score in a World Cup final.
She captained Australia between 2023 up until her retirement earlier this year and will be remembered as one of the greats of the women’s game.
Healy’s recognition follows last month’s induction of a quintet of players to MCC Honorary Life Membership, when Suzie Bates, Sophie Devine, Tamim Iqbal, Mel Jones and Cheteshwar Pujara were all confirmed as having accepted the Club’s offer.
Rob Lawson, Chief Executive and Secretary of MCC, said: “Alyssa has been one of the premier names in women’s cricket over the past two decades and we’re delighted that she has accepted our offer of Honorary Life Membership, joining a long list of greats of the game.”
