It was with sadness that MCC received the news, earlier today, of the death of Dennis Silk, C.B.E., J.P., who was an Honorary Life Vice-President of the Club. 

Silk was elected to the MCC Committee on seven occasions, beginning in 1966, and went on to become President in 1992-94, a Trustee for four years from 1997, and served on the General Purposes committee for various stints between 1966 and 2000. 

He was also Chairman of the Test and County Cricket Board between 1994 and 1996, and played first-class cricket for Cambridge University, Somerset and MCC.
