With Australia resuming on 30 for 1, in reply to England’s 258, the conditions for bowling this morning were favourable for England, and Jofra Archer picked up his first Test wicket on debut, trapping Cameron Bancroft lbw for 13.
Two wickets fell with the score on 60 as Usman Khawaja followed shortly after - he feathered a ball from Chris Woakes through to Jonny Bairstow for 36.
Stuart Broad was the next to strike, as he snared Travis Head lbw for 7, a decision that was originally given not out and overturned on review.
However, on the stroke of lunch the rain came and play was eventually abandoned for the day at 5.20pm.
The match resumes at 11am on Friday 16th August. Days 4 and 5 of the Test match are sold out.
