Heather Knight appointed London Spirit’s first Women’s General Manager

Posted: 1 December 2025

London Spirit is delighted to announce the landmark appointment of England star Heather Knight as General Manager of its women’s team.
This is a new role in the franchise and underlines London Spirit’s commitment to ensuring the women’s team has dedicated and expert leadership. Knight will offer technical support to the Women’s Head Coach as well as acting as a sounding board for the leadership team on the field and in the dugout. She will work closely with Director of Cricket Mo Bobat, providing him with elite perspectives into the women’s game.

Knight will not be playing during the 2026 edition of The Hundred, whilst responsibility for the team’s performance will lie with the Head Coach. It will be confirmed who will be performing that role in due course.

Ahead of a major summer for women’s cricket in England, with the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and the first Women’s Test match at Lord’s, Knight remains under contract with ECB and will continue to play an important on-field role for the England team, having recently scored heavily during the recent Women’s World Cup in India. This appointment has been made with the support of ECB and Clare Connor, Managing Director of England Women. Knight will be named as one of the England Women players in receipt of a new Central Contract later this month, with one year left on her current two-year deal.

Knight captained London Spirit in the first four editions of The Hundred, culminating in leading the team to its first The Hundred title, on its home ground at Lord’s, in 2024. This appointment is a continuation of her off-the-field role with London Spirit during the 2025 season, where she worked as a mentor and coach while recovering from an injury that prevented her from playing.

Director of Cricket Mo Bobat said: “We’re delighted to be able to extend Heather’s association with London Spirit, she’s an asset in every sense of the word. Heather’s deep understanding of the women’s game, and of what is required to perform at the highest level make her the ideal person to be our first Women’s General Manager. She knows what it takes to win The Hundred and the franchise will benefit from having one of the game’s leading current players in such a key role.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with Heather and excited at the prospect of her forming a trusted partnership with our Women’s Head Coach. It’s also great to be able to support Heather with her long-term ambitions and future career transition. I know how passionate she remains about playing for England and her unwavering commitment to representing her country. As such, I thank the ECB and Clare Connor for their endorsement of this appointment.”

Knight said: “I’m delighted to take up this new role with London Spirit. I have absolutely loved my time at the franchise, as a player and also as a coach in last year’s edition of The Hundred. I’m really excited to work closely with Mo and the Head Coach in this new chapter for the women’s team.

"I am still very much committed to and passionate about playing for England and Somerset, but this is a huge development opportunity for me. It gives me the chance to learn from one of the best minds in the global game, in Mo, and broaden my experiences outside of my playing career.

"I am incredibly grateful to Clare and the ECB for their support, and I am so excited for everything to come, on and off the field, in 2026.”
