In The Hundred, he was named Most Valuable Player in the first edition of the tournament in 2021, helping Birmingham Phoenix reach the final that year. He has spent all five editions of the tournament with Phoenix and captained the side in last year’s campaign. Livingstone sits sixth on the list of highest run-scorers in The Hundred, scoring 996 runs in just 36 innings. No player has hit more sixes in the competition than Livingstone’s 71.
Livingstone has represented his country 100 times across all three international formats, scoring 1,903 runs and taking 58 wickets. In 2021, he broke the record for the quickest T20I century by an Englishman, reaching 100 from just 42 balls against Pakistan at Trent Bridge. He was a key member of the ICC T20 World Cup-winning squad in 2022, playing in all seven matches.
Livingstone said: “I am really looking forward to leading London Spirit out at Lord’s this summer. It’s an iconic ground and with the largest crowds in the country, I know the fans will create a special atmosphere for every match. There is so much talent throughout the squad and I want us to make some history this summer. I can’t wait to get started.”
London Spirit Head Coach, Andy Flower, said: “Liam is a fantastic person to work with, both on and off the field. I’ve known him since he and I were both with the England Lions. Signing him to London Spirit was one of the first things we wanted to do because we knew how significant he will be to everything we are doing at Lord’s this summer. Liam’s determination to improve and succeed is fundamental to what we are looking to establish at London Spirit. He will lead from the front: of that, I have no doubt.”
London Spirit can also confirm our full coaching and support staff for both men’s and women’s teams, which includes former England internationals Graeme Swann (Men’s Spin Bowling Coach) and Laura Marsh (Women’s Assistant Coach - Spin), and former New Zealand players Andre Adams (Men's Pace Bowling Coach) and Craig McMillan (Women’s Assistant Coach - Batting).
