Lord’s will once again take centre stage in women’s cricket as it has been confirmed as the host venue for the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. MCC will welcome the two finalists on Sunday 5 July, rounding off a month-long global celebration of the women’s game.

The 2026 edition of the tournament marks a major step forward for women’s cricket, with an expanded line-up of 12 teams competing in 33 matches over 24 days across seven world-class venues in England and Wales. Joining Lord’s as host grounds are Old Trafford, Headingley, Edgbaston, The Hampshire Bowl, The Oval, and Bristol County Ground.

The competition will begin on Friday 12 June and will feature two group stages followed by a knockout phase. The final four teams will be determined through a global qualifier tournament, with eight sides – including hosts England – already securing their place.

Lord’s hosted the unforgettable 2017 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Final, where England triumphed over India in front of a sell-out crowd. Having the final back at the home of cricket is a symbol of the growing stature of the women’s game.

The tournament was officially launched at Lord’s today (1 May), featuring prominent figures from across British women’s sport. England Head Coach Charlotte Edwards was joined by players Tammy Beaumont, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, and Lauren Bell, along with England rugby international Ellie Kildunne. The event set out the bold ambition of the 2026 World Cup: to be a landmark moment for gender equality in cricket and inspire the next generation of fans.

ICC Chair Jay Shah said: “The confirmation of venues represents a defining moment as we build towards the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. This tournament will bring together the world’s finest players in a celebration of skill, spirit and sportsmanship.

“The United Kingdom's rich diversity has always shown passionate support for all teams, something we witnessed so memorably at past events. The sell-out Women’s Cricket World Cup final at Lord’s in 2017 remains a landmark in the rise of the women’s game, and I cannot think of a more fitting stage for the final.”

2026 promises to be a landmark year for women’s cricket at Lord’s, featuring both the World Cup final and the ground’s first-ever women’s Test match, as England take on India.

It will mark the second consecutive year the two sides meet at Lord’s, following their upcoming One-Day International on 19 July this summer.
