MCC agrees partnership with TSO to expand access to the Laws of Cricket across the globe

MCC has entered into an agreement with TSO (The Stationery Office), a Williams Lea company, to broaden the global reach of its Law of Cricket publications, making them more accessible, affordable and sustainable for cricketing communities around the world.

Through this new partnership with TSO, publications will now be printed in multiple regions worldwide, reducing delivery times and costs, and significantly improving availability for customers across the global cricketing landscape. The arrangement will also support environmental goals by reducing the need for long-distance freight transportation.

Previously, all printing of MCC's Law books and Tom Smith's Cricket Umpiring and Scoring publications was undertaken in the UK, with only a small number of countries granted permission to print the Laws of Cricket locally.

The agreement comes as MCC publishes the latest edition of the Laws of Cricket on Thursday 1 October 2026. The current Code, first introduced in 2017, represented the most substantial revision of the Laws in a generation, following extensive consultation with players, umpires and cricket administrators.

This fouth edition builds on that work with a particular focus on ensuring the Laws are both up to date and as inclusive as possible. Updates include clearer, more accessible language, greater use of inclusive terminology, revisions designed by improve affordability within the game, and amendments that reflect the growing use of video across all levels of cricket.

The Laws of Cricket apply to every format of the game, from grassroots and recreational cricket through to the highest international levels. While governing bodies and competition organisers may introduce specific playing regulations, the Laws remain the foundation of the game worldwide.

The publications continue to serve as an essential resource for players, umpires, coaches, teachers, volunteers, clubs, leagues, governing bodies, researchers and cricket supporters. The new agreement with TSO will help ensure that this important publication is more readily available to those who rely on it, wherever they are in the world.
