MCC will take part in a series of fixtures arranged in partnership with the Danish Cricket Federation against the Danish national team, reflecting the growing standard of cricket in the country. MCC will play Denmark in two T20 matches and two 50-over matches, which will all take place at the Svanholm Cricket Club in Copenhagen.
Cricket in Denmark has a long and distinctive history. The sport was introduced in the mid‑19th century through British influence, with organised clubs forming as early as the 1860s.
Denmark became an Associate Member of the ICC in 1966 and first played MCC a decade later. The Club last toured the country back in 2008.
Denmark is currently ranked 43rd in the ICC Men’s T20 International Team Rankings, with a rating of 69 points. Their most recent international fixtures include a three-match T20I series against Jersey earlier this month. Denmark won the final match by seven wickets, after Jersey had won the first two matches.
The tour represents another opportunity for MCC to support cricket development internationally, while providing valuable overseas experience for its Playing Members.
Several MCC Playing Members on the tour compete at National Counties and ECB Premier League level, ensuring a competitive squad for the fixtures.
MCC will captained by Tom Ullyott, who skippered Cuckney to the ECB National Club Championship at Lord’s in 2023. Rob Pack is the Tour Manager.
James Overy, Head of Cricket Projects at MCC, said: “A tour of a European country is always a special and popular one for our Members. With Denmark an ever-improving side, this trip provides their next generation of cricketers the opportunity to play competitive cricket against a strong MCC squad, as our hosts use this trip as valuable preparation for the World Cup sub-regional qualifiers they’ll be hosting in July.”
The squad for the tour is:
