After claiming ten wickets on his Test debut against West indies in July, Atkinson continued his impressive start to his Test career with a stunning century on Day Two of England's second Test against Sri Lanka.
Having witnessed Joe Root's century the previous day from the opposite end, Atkinson followed suit, playing an aggressive innings that culminated in a boundary through mid-off to reach his hundred off just 103 balls.
Atkinson did have an early scare when given out LBW of his third ball of Day Two, but a successful review overturned the decision and allowed him to reach his century shortly after.
