After losing the toss and being put into bat in overcast conditions, Finch was on sublime form alongside David Warner, with the pair putting on a stand of 121.
The Australia captain’s knock saw him hit a century off 116 balls, in an innings where he smashed 11 fours and two sixes, before he was dismissed by Jofra Archer.
Finch had scored a hundred at Lord’s before, when he hit a century during the 2014 Bicentenary Match between an MCC XI and a Rest of the World XI, but this man-of-the-match performance saw Australia not only win the contest, but for Finch, his name was now finally listed in the Away Dressing Room at the Home of Cricket.
