A.R.C. Fraser 5-66 v West IndiesBack to boards

Angus Fraser was England's unsung hero in 1995, when his five wicket haul against the West Indies set up a historic Test victory at Lord's.

Fraser twice managed to get his name on the Lord's Honours Boards, the first time was during Gooch's Test in 1990 against India, but his five-for against the West Indies, who had not lost at Lord's since 1957, helped set up a memorable victory for captain Mike Atherton and his team.

In a match where the balance of power swung to and fro, Fraser gave a performance that exemplified the control and dogged determination that became synonymous with the England and Middlesex fast bowler’s career.

Trudging in from the Nursery End, Fraser removed Brian Lara, Jimmy Adams, Richie Richardson, Keith Arthurton and Curtly Ambrose as his figures of 5/66 helped restrict the West Indies to 324 all out, giving the tourists a first innings lead of 41 in the second Test of a six match series.

England went on to win the match by 72 runs at the Home of Cricket.
