After being put into bat, England looked well on track with Graham Thorpe falling short of a hundred on 89 and a brilliant 124 off 261 balls from the wicketkeeper Jack Russell.
That was until Venkatesh Prasad managed to get the wicket of the centurion after rattling the stumps of Ronnie Irani and cleaning up England’s tail to finish with figures of 5-76.
The Test match ended in a draw after India managed to take first innings lead on the back of a hundred from debutant Sourav Ganguly.
