G. Kirsten 108 v EnglandBack to boards

Gary Kirsten secured his spot on the Lord's Honours Boards when he scored 108 for South Africa in their comfortable victory over England in 2003.

England were skittled for 173 in their first innings and following a healthy opening partnership of 133 by Graeme Smith - who went on to hit the highest individual overseas score with 259 during the innings - and Herschelle Gibbs, Kirsten entered the crease hoping to add to his side's good start with the bat.

A knock lasting 244 balls, Kirsten would eventually be bowled out for 108, hitting 15 fours to guide South Africa to a score of 390-2 before he was dismissed by Anthony McGrath.

His country would eventually score a total of 682/6d and bowl England out for 417 to win the match by an innings and 92 runs.
