Neil McKenzie hit his first hundred at Lord’s when he scored 138 during South Africa’s drawn Test with England in the summer of 2008.

After England had posted a huge total of 593/8d during their first innings, South Africa could only manage 247 all out in response and as a consequence, the hosts enforced the follow-on meaning McKenzie – who scored 40 in the first innings – was required to bat again.

In an opening stand of 204 with fellow opener Graeme Smith, McKenzie was in stunning form, scoring 138 off 447 balls, hitting 16 fours to become one of four South Africa batsmen to get on to the Honours Boards during the same Test.

McKenzie and his side’s efforts meant inspired South Africa to a total of 393/3d as a draw at the end of Day Five was confirmed.
