P.C.R. Tufnell 5-94 v Sri LankaBack to boards

Phil Tufnell claimed a place on the Lord’s Honours Boards when he took 5-94 during England’s Test v Sri Lanka in 1991.

In what was his first Test at the Home of Cricket, Sri Lanka were chasing a mammoth total of 423 runs to win, Tufnell was called upon to disrupt the visitor’s’ batting-up for victory.

Tufnell certainly delivered, taking the wickets of Chandika Hathurusingha, Asanka Gurusingha, Roshan Mahanama, Hashan Tillakaratne and Don Anurasiri as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 285.

The result saw England win by 137 runs and for Tufnell, it was a match that he would never forget.
