S.P.D. Smith 110 v EnglandBack to boards

Steve Smith achieved another spot on the Lord’s Honours Boards when he hit 110 during the second Ashes Test match of 2023.

On a cloudy First Day, England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and chose to bowl on a green Lord’s pitch. Coming into to bat at number four, Smith looked in fine touch from the first ball.

With support from Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head, Smith remained unbeaten on 85 at stumps on day one. On Day Two, within a few overs, Smith reached his century with a lovely cover drive off James Anderson to raise his bat to the Lord’s crowd.

He was dismissed shortly to the bowling of Josh Tongue for 110, an innings which included 15 boundaries.
