England had posted an impressive total of 486 all out during their first innings, which required Sri Lanka to respond in style.
The elegant Dilshan certainly did exactly that, attacking the England bowling attack with an impressive display of strokes before finally being dismissed by Steven Finn after hurting his hand in the process.
Overall, Dilshan’s knock lasted 433 minutes and saw him face 253 balls, scoring 20 fours and two sixes.
In what was a captain’s innings, Dilshan would go on to be rewarded the man-of-the-match award as it was that knock which proved pivotal in Sri Lanka claiming a draw after five days in a rain-affected Test match.
