Following the success of its inaugural year, MCC, Sky Sports and Take Her Lead, have announced the return of the Young Female Broadcaster of the Year competition, attempting to uncover the next generation of female cricket broadcasting talent.
Enter today to be in with a chance of being part of the Sky Sports Cricket team in the Barclays Media Centre for their live broadcast coverage at The Hundred Final at Lord’s on Sunday 31 August.
The Young Female Broadcaster of the Year competition initiative aims to increase opportunities for young women looking to forge a career in the cricket media, specifically in broadcasting. All you have to do is upload a short showreel of you presenting – it could be a match commentary, match report, video blog or interview.
A judging panel made up of current broadcasters, representatives from MCC, Sky Sports, and chaired by Isa Guha on behalf of Take Her Lead will choose a winner and five shortlisted runners-up who will be invited to Lord’s for England’s Metro Bank Women’s One-Day International against India on Saturday 19 July. During the day, the runners-up and winner will have unique access to the Barclays Media Centre and the chance to meet some of the professional broadcasters at work.
The prize for the winner is to be part of the Sky Sports team for their live broadcast coverage at The Hundred Final at Lord’s on Sunday 31 August as well as a trip to the Sky headquarters to meet and see productions teams in action and learn more about what goes into live broadcasting

How to enter?
Entry for the competition is through submission of a video or audio showreel of a match commentary, match report, video blog or interview. Your submission should be a maximum of six minutes long and uploaded as a YouTube or Vimeo link.
What are we looking for?
Entries for MCC Young Female Broadcaster of the Year will be judged on the following criteria:
- Enthusiasm and passion - We want to see and hear your passion and enthusiasm for cricket in your submission.
- Originality - We are looking for entries to be original and innovative in style and approach.
- Knowledge - You’ll need to show us your knowledge about cricket in your submission.
- Presentation and delivery - Whether it’s a match commentary, match report, video blog or interview, your presentation and delivery need to be clear and engaging for judges and for viewers and listeners.
Who is the MCC Young Female Broadcaster of the Year aimed at?
We are looking for entries from females, or anyone identifying as female, between the age of 18-24. You could be looking to take your first steps in the sports broadcasting industry, have studied or are currently studying journalism or media and most importantly have a passion for cricket and a career in sports broadcasting.
When will the winner be announced?
The winner and five shortlisted entrants will be invited to Lord’s for the England v India Women’s Metro Bank One-Day International at Lord’s on Saturday 19 July, when the shortlist names and winner will be announced.
What is the winning prize?
The winner of the competition will be invited to Lord’s to be part of the Sky Sports Cricket team for the for their live broadcast coverage of The Hundred Final on Sunday 31 August.
How will the winner and runners up be chosen?
The winner and the shortlisted candidates will be chosen by a panel of cricket broadcasters and representatives from MCC, Sky Sports Cricket, Take Her Lead and well-known current presenters. The panel will be chaired by former England cricketer, current broadcaster and Founder of Take Her Lead, Isa Guha.
