Germany Tour player profiles

Below are the list of players and staff who are embarking on a tour with MCC to Germany, beginning Sunday 28 May. 

Jim Love (Tour Manager) - As a player, Love represented England in three one-day internationals as well as scoring over 10,000 runs for Yorkshire County Cricket Club. He’s also been a Director of Cricket & National Coach for Scotland for over 10 years.

William Vanderspar (Captain)- Opener for North Middlesex CC - Vanderspar has enjoyed previous experience on an MCC Tour, where he travelled to Botswana in 2014 to not only play but to coach children too.

Nick Anderson- Middle Order and Seamer, Didsbury CC and Cheshire CCC - Anderson is an all-rounder based in Cheshire where he captains club cricket side Didsbury. He has enjoyed a MCC Tour before, where he travelled to Denmark in 2015.

Max Barson- Seamer, Cranleigh CC - As well as being a seamer, Barson has experience as a Strength and Conditioning coach to both professional cricket and rugby players.

Rahul Bhome- Off-Spin, Fives and Heronians CC - A general and colorectal surgical registrar, Bhome is being an MCC match manager for the first time in 2017, in addition to his off-spin bowler attributes.

Chris Booth - Batter/Keeper - York CC - Played majority of cricket in the Midlands in the Birmingham Premier League with a bit of Warwickshire 2nd XI cricket. Booth has also played abroad in Australia and New Zealand.

Jon Cade- Seamer - Ramsey CC - Cade is a right-arm medium pace bowler and middle / lower order batsman plays for Ramsey CC in Cambs & Hunts Division.

Charlie Hopkins- Seamer - Teddington CC - Hopkins has played a wide variety of cricket formats including Minor Counties Championship cricket for Lincolnshire CCC, a playing and coaching contract with the Northland Cricket Association in New Zealand and MCCU sides.

Gareth James- Opener - Brentwood CC - James is on his fourth Tour with MCC with previous experience as a player through the Cambridge MCCU system and with Essex CCC. He also was Head of Cricket at New Hall School in Chelmsford.

Niall O’Brien- Wicket-Keeper - Ireland - O’Brien is an international with Ireland and recently featured in the Royal London ODI against Ireland at Lord’s. He has also previously played county cricket for Kent, Northamptonshire and Leicestershire.

Dan Pascoe- Slow Left Arm - Kowloon CC - Australian-born Pascoe has represented Oxford University as well as combined MCCUs and Australia National University in his cricketing experience.

Jared Schmidt- Seam - Barnes CC - Schmidt started his cricketing career in Adelaide for the Old Boys’ club in the ATCA turf league, but is appearing on an MCC Tour for the first time this summer.

Ben Shepperson- Top Order - Mildenhall CC Club captain at Mildenhall - Shepperson helped his side achieve promotion into the East Anglian Premier League with his batting credentials during 2016.

Ashley Sivarajah- Slow Left Arm - Southgate CC and MCC Young Cricketers - Sivarajah is a slow left arm spinner who has made his way from club cricket to becoming an MCC Young Cricketer on the back of some excellent seasons in the Middlesex Premier League and trained alongside Middlesex CCC last winter.

Howard Cohen (Umpire) - Elected as a Full Member in 1976, Cohen is on his first Tour with MCC. He has umpired cricket at every level below First Class and managed two unofficial tours for MCCYCs in 1978 and 1979.
