Honours Board Legend: Gooch

Honours Board Legend: Gooch

Graham Gooch, the most prolific batsman to have played at Lord's, discusses his record at the Home of Cricket with Lord's TV - including his famous innings of 333 against India in 1990.

Everything the MCC does involving Lord's Cricket Ground and Test matches oozes class - Gooch

Reunited with the bat he used in that Test, current England Test Batting Coach Gooch recalls how, among other things, a few glasses of wine over dinner with former MCC President Doug Insole helped him make scores of 333 and 123 - a world record total for one Test.

Gooch is the most successful England batsman of all time, scoring 8,900 runs in a remarkable 118 Test career.

He is the only batsman to have scored more than 2,000 Test runs at Lord's (2,015) making six Test centuries at the Ground - a figure only matched by another Honours Board Legend, Michael Vaughan. He averaged 52.02 at the Home of Cricket, almost ten runs higher than his overall Test average of 42.58.

In addition to six Test tons, Gooch also made a century for MCC against The Rest of the World in 1987's Bicentenary Match, which also earned him a spot on the Honours Boards - taking him to seven entires, second only to Sir Ian Botham.
