Lord’s Celebrates its 150th Lord’s Test

Posted: 4 June 2026

The forthcoming Rothesay men’s Test match between England and New Zealand will be the 150th to be played at Lord’s.

No other venue has hosted as many Test matches, affirming Lord’s standing as the Home of Cricket and its central place in the game’s history.

Across generations, Lord’s has provided the stage for many of the game’s most celebrated performances. The Honours Boards in the Home and Away Dressing Rooms record achievements such as Don Bradman’s 254 in 1930, Bob Massie’s 16 wickets in 1972 and Graham Gooch’s 333 in 1990. In more recent years, England’s two-wicket victory over the West Indies in the 100th Test at Lord’s in 2000 and the staging of the 2000th Test match worldwide in 2011 have added further distinction. Individual contributions continue to shape the Ground’s story, including Ben Stokes’ fastest Test century at Lord’s in 2015 and James Anderson’s 100th Test wicket at the venue in 2018.

MCC will be marking the occasion of the 150th Lord’s Test through a series of special activities, including:

  • The presentation of a ceremonial cap to both England and New Zealand captains after the toss.
  • A special ceremony to be held during the Tea interval on Day One, to which every person who has captained England in a Test match at Lord’s has been invited.
  • A commemorative logo which will be visible across the Ground, including around the main pitch.
  • A range of commemorative retail items will be on sale in the Lord’s Shop.
  • A display showcasing some of the key Test match moments through the years at Lord’s is currently on the wall behind the Tavern Stand.
  • The official match programme, published by ECB, will include a trip down memory lane with an extended look back on some of the greatest Test moments at the Home of Cricket.

The 150th Test match at Lord’s is a significant marker in the Ground’s history, recognising its enduring place at the centre of the game while providing the setting for the next chapter to unfold.
