History will be made at the Ground this year on multiple counts in relation to the women and girls’ game, both on and off the field.
Fifty years after Rachael Heyhoe Flint first led a women’s side onto the Main Ground, the Home of Cricket is preparing for a summer defined by women’s sport including its first ever women’s Test match - a landmark moment that with ten weeks to go, ticket sales have already surpassed the highest attendance record (23,207) for a women’s Test in England.
The Test is the headline act in a record breaking season at Lord’s, with 21 women’s fixtures scheduled. From international cricket to domestic competitions and pathway finals, thousands of supporters will have the chance to watch women’s cricket at Lord’s.
The Ground will also host four matches in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, including the Final that has already sold out. London Spirit’s (LS) refreshed identity will further reinforce The Hundred, a competition built on parity, including setting new standards for the women’s game with the creation of a dedicated Women’s General Manager role, filled by former England and LS captain, Heather Knight. The tournament holds its own women’s attendance record when 22,542 watched the women’s final at Lord’s in 2025.
MCC has had women’s and girls’ cricket at the heart of its strategy for many years and is continuing the momentum. Most recently MCC celebrated the women’s game with permanent visual markers including exhibitions on women’s cricket in the MCC Museum, the installation of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Gate, a commemorative Women’s Ashes plaque in the Harris Garden and a portrait of Charlotte Edwards in the Long Room.
The first Women’s Test match at Lord’s will see a fierce contest on the field over the four days with an energised England side looking to defeat one of the best women’s sides in India. Off the field, the experience will have a family-friendly vibe, with various initiatives including entertainment, competitions and cricket activities to ensure that everyone attending can get the most from their day at the Ground.
Robert Lawson, Chief Executive and Secretary of MCC said: “We’re thrilled to have already broken this significant record within women’s cricket. Lord’s is such a special place and to be hosting our first ever women’s Test is truly exciting – for us as a Club, for the players and for the record crowds that will witness history in the making. With the match not starting until 10 July and the ICC Women's T20 World Cup just before it, we’re sure that ticket sales will continue to surge. There’s nothing like a Lord’s Test, and we want to make this first ever women’s Test at the Home of Cricket a momentous occasion for all involved.”
