D.L. Amiss 137 v IndiaBack to boards

Dennis Amiss hit the first ODI century at Lord’s during the 1975 Prudential World Cup match against India.

In the very first match of the inaugural Cricket World Cup, opener Amiss’ historic innings contained 18 fours, facing only 147 balls to help England to a total of 333/4 after 60 overs.

In response, India could only manage a score of 123/3 after their 60 overs with Amiss awarded the man-of-the-match for his performance during the memorable occasion.

Despite Amiss’ individual score being the second-joint highest in male individual ODI totals in the entire history at Lord’s, his brilliance was overtaken by Sir Viv Richards, who scored 138* during the 1979 Cricket World Cup Final.
