F.S. Trueman 11-152 v West IndiesBack to boards

In a drawn match famous for Colin Cowdrey coming out to bat with his arm in plaster for the final two balls, Fred Trueman’s achievements in this match were largely overshadowed.

In the first innings he bowled well for long spells and claimed six wickets for 100, bowling the captain Frank Worrell for a duck.

In one of his best performances for England, Trueman then took 5 for 52, giving him match figures of 11-152.

This was Trueman’s second 10 wicket-haul – his third would come in the next Test match against West Indies at Edgbaston.
