G.S. Ballance 104* v Sri LankaBack to boards

Gary Ballance made the most of picking the right ground for his maiden Test century when he finished unbeaten on 104* vs Sri Lanka in 2014 at Lord’s.

The match had already seen centuries scored by Joe Root, Kumar Sangakkara and Angelo Mathews and Ballance, batting at three in England’s second innings, was determined to join them in what was just his second Test match.

The Yorkshire batsman’s innings lasted 252 minutes and consisted of 12 fours and one six.

England would go on to eventually draw the match, with Sri Lanka managing to hold on by one wicket in dramatic circumstances.
