The Warwickshire batsman had already seen Alastair Cook, Collingwood and Matt Prior all add themselves to the Honours Boards but Bell’s brilliance at the crease ensured that he was not going to miss out on the achievement.
Sharing a partnership of 144 with Collingwood for the fourth wicket & 190 with Prior for the fifth wicket in England’s first innings, Bell was in superb form with his unbeaten knock eventually consisting of 11 fours in an innings that lasted 190 balls.
Kevin Pietersen also scored a century in the second innings but despite the efforts of Bell and England, weather prevented a positive score from taking place and the match was declared a draw at the end of day five.
