K.P. Pietersen 152 v South AfricaBack to boards

Kevin Pietersen once again got his named scribed onto the Lord’s Honours Boards when he hit a terrific 152 off 181 balls during the first Test versus South Africa in 2008.

In an innings lasting 281 minutes, the batsman was on fine form, hitting 20 fours and a six against a tough bowling line-up that included Dale Steyn, Makhaya Ntini and Morne Morkel.

He shared a partnership of 286 with Ian Bell, who went on to hit 199, before being caught behind by Mark Boucher off the bowling of Morkel.

Pietersen’s fourth spot on the Honours Boards helped England set a first innings lead of 593 before South Africa fought back to claim a draw at the end of the fifth day.
