K.P. Pietersen 158 v Sri LankaBack to boards

Kevin Pietersen’s first appearance on the Lord’s Honours Boards came against Sri Lanka at Lord’s in 2006.

The middle-order batsman faced 205 balls in an innings that saw Pietersen hit 19 fours and two sixes to secure his second consecutive 158 on home soil.

The knock took Pietersen past 1,000 Test runs, 295 days after his debut and his stand of 173 with Collingwood, the best by any Test side for the fifth wicket against Sri Lanka, enabled captain Andrew Flintoff to declare with England 551/6.

However, a combination of bad light and rain prevented England the chance to win the match with the fixture concluding in a draw.
